I’ve helped a lot of photographers craft their website to rank on Google and book dream clients. Some were on Wordpress, others on Showit, still others on Wix, Squarespace, Pixieset, and others you’ve probably never heard of it. Over the years, I’ve learned the strengths, weaknesses, and quirks or each platform, as well as which ones are the best for SEO.
Why You Should Listen to Me, Specifically (at Least About this Topic)
If you didn’t know by now, I’m the author of the popular Ultimate SEO Guide, the creator of the Easy SEO Facebook Group, as well as an invitation-only mentorship course for SEO with an amazing track record of helping photographers craft their website, copywriting, and portfolio in order to convert dream clients as well as Google so your website ranks on Google.
(I do not have any affiliations or affiliate links to any website platform, so you can trust that I’m not just trying to get you to use any specific one).
The Answer: Which website platform is the best for photographers and SEO?
I’m a big fan of just giving you the answer. If you want the deets, you can read further. I know some people will balk at me that I’m NOT going to say “Wordpress”, but I’ve got to be honest based on my experience.
The truth is, you can rank on any website builder as long as you focus on the future of SEO.
That said…
The most consistent success I’ve seen photographers have when it comes to a website builder and SEO is with Showit + the Wordpress Blog.
Showit has a lot of versatility when it comes to aesthetics (which can be an immediate brand upgrade).
The only qualms I have with Showit are that it has it’s quirks, such as the need to reeeally make sure that your mobile and desktop versions are doing exactly what you want. It’s not uncommon for someone to have broken links in their mobile version because they did something on desktop and just never fixed it on mobile.
Conclusion
The best thing to do when it comes to a website building platform is to use one that you’ll actually log in and use. Most builders offer free trials, so be sure to check that out and find which one suits you and your style!
That being said, Showit tends to be the winner for most, especially wedding photographers.
