While on 'holiday' in the States, Eve (all the way from Australia) met her beloved Scott. Their wedding venue, The LIttle Turtle Club in Columbus Ohio was a great choice to meet their desires for an outdoor wedding with an indoor reception area. •Please share a bit of wisdom with other brides that you wish someone would have shared with you:

-Enjoy the process. You only do it once! As crazy/stressful as it can be doing that much organizing, it should still be fun. And nothing is that big a deal. With that said:

-Prepare to be busy (set up an autoresponder on your emails the week before the wedding; let people help you by giving them jobs and trusting them; etc. There was way more to do in that last week than we thought there would be! You can avoid the stress by just preparing for it.)

-Start a spreadsheet early on (to tick off jobs, count RSVPs, keep track of who bought you what gift, etc). This saved us lots of time and stress.

-If you can on the day, sneak a moment where the two of you escape the hustle & bustle to be alone together & take it all in - because the day really does go by SO fast. (Everyone says that!). We snuck out during the evening for a quick cuddle under the stars, and it was one of the only times in our wedding where time seemed to slow down a little. So worth it.

•Please share with us the story of how you two met:

We first laid eyes on each other on Christmas Eve of 2013. To cut a long story short, Scott's cousin Sara was living in Australia & working for the same company as me, and we became firm friends. She was organizing a trip to New York for New Year's Eve with some friends in 2013, and she invited me to go along; which I promptly agreed to! I was travelling standby though (my Mum works for an airline so I get cheap standby tickets!), and I couldn't get a standby flight to New York at that time of year; so I ended up flying to Cincinnati (where Sara's family lives) and spending Christmas with them, then we drove to New York together from Cincinnati. I met Scott on Christmas Eve at a family get-together his parents were hosting that Sara took me to. Very random set of events!

•What's something unique about your relationship?

We both own our own businesses (I own an Australian skin care company and Scott & his partners design and launch consumer products). I'd say that's one unusual thing that we share, and something that's also made our relationship possible - we've both been able to pick up and leave without having to apply to an employer for extended leave several times every year. "I need time off to go and see a handsome American" probably wouldn't fly with most employers!

•When, where and how did Scott propose?

We've spent almost all of the last year going through the immigration process, so we had the 'We love each other - let's get married' conversation quite a long time ago and started the necessary immigration paperwork shortly after that, as that was the logical next step. So, it wasn't until we'd already started planning our wedding that I received my actual 'proposal'. We kind of did things in reverse order..!

We had several months apart this year with him in the U.S and me in Australia while our paperwork was being processed, and during that time we picked out an apartment together here in the States (I just had to go off pictures I saw online - he did all the apartment viewings!). When I finally got back to the States, I was so excited to see our first place. I walked in and on the coffee table, there was a pretty little globe. I had mentioned previously that I wanted us to have a globe at our wedding instead of a guestbook, so people could 'sign the globe' - so I thought that's what it was for. I said, "Ah, is this the globe for the wedding?!" and I started to spin it. And then I saw the words 'Marry Me' painted across it. The 'M' started in Western Australia where I'm from, and the 'e' ended in Ohio. It was so lovely. I think I cried. (& then I said yes.) :)

•Describe your wedding's style and what inspired it:

I wanted it to be summery, colorful and feminine; but not too girly! When I was deciding on the decor my aim was to make it really pretty, but not princess-y. I had some very pale pink/peach in my dress, and I chose gold for the bridesmaids (they all picked their own dresses). Then we had white, deep magenta pink and pale peach for the flowers. The boys wore navy & black tuxedos with a touch of gold in their boutonnieres. (Scott deserves the credit for the handsome suits - I left that bit to him!).

•What were some unique details?

We did a lot of our wedding ourselves, with a huge amount of help from our parents and friends. Myself, my Mum, Scott's Mom and our bridesmaids put together all of our own flowers using a DIY florist called The Flowerman.

I baked and decorated our wedding cake, and Scott built our wooden wedding arch (complete with a hanging engraving of our names) and all our wooden aisle markers. It cost us a lot in time, but we had fun, learned a huge amount and saved lots of money!
